MEDIA: THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE SIDES OF THEIR INFLUENCES

Books, newspapers, radio, television, motion pictures and magazines – these are some of the examples of media. Usually, these mediums are defined as tools for disseminating information, entertainment, opinions, trends, etc. These things are considered essentials for the entire humanity. We commonly use them in learning, enhancing, expressing, sharing and molding our needed ideas for the betterment and uplifting of our lives. It is inarguably true that without these so called media, quality of life would be diminished. For we, people, are very dependent on these. These make our lives comfortable, more easy and educable.  Because of these benefits, mankinds who are using them are greatly influenced. Specifically, the influence affects the behavior of the people. But what if this continued? How will people see the affirmative and the negative side of these things? What are the positive and the negative influences of media?

Nowadays, as media continuously surge forward, they greatly affect and influence people’s behavior. Because of this gradual affection and influence, people are getting more dependent to these things. Effects can either be positive or negative. We have the affirmative or the positive side of using media. The entire humanity in this era is very dependent on these innovative things. They are used by people for communication. For example, when a person is too far to his relatives, using these things, he can easily get in touch to his relatives’ even if he is thousand miles away from them. Another thing is that people become more creative. As they get mingle with these things, they are learning to create things that can make their lives more comfortable and innovative.  In terms of information dissemination, they learn to be more meticulous when it comes to delivering them. They usually make beautiful designs that will surely gain the interest of the acquirer. In addition, they are also entertaining people in more interesting ways. By means of these things, people enable themselves to make and put their life to the fullest yet meaningful. Media, in the positive side, implicates that they are very important to the lives of individuals who are using them.

If we have the positive side of media, on the other hand, we also have the negative standpoints. Unfortunately, they are taken for granted by individuals who are using them to create bad things that lead to negative things. According to the critiques in the early-to-mid 20^th century, they suggested that media weaken and delimit the individual’s capacity to act autonomously. They are becoming more reliant to these things that lead to less manpower services. Second thing, which is one of the most popular and agitating problems in the world, is that some people are using them for pornographic purposes that nowadays are very easy to access not only for adults but also for children below 17 years old. Thirdly, people are becoming very creative wherein some users are using these things to make untrue ideas and wrong information that sometimes use to destroy one’s reputation. Lastly, they are use for bad syndicate purposes. These are just some of the negative influence of media on people’s behavior. People should be informed and learn these things.

In general, media undoubtedly have big influence on people who are using them. These things actually permeated in our lives and vice versa. We are using them to make things on our life more fascinating. From the time we wake-up in the morning up to the time we go on the bed to sleep we are influenced by media. They are things that are inevitable. Our entire life is intact with these things.  Hence, we need to be aware that using things in too much is dangerous. All we have to do is to make things in equal. Everything here on our land has good and bad effects. We can surely get the good things if we are using them appropriately with limitation, and we will only get the negative outcome if you’ll use things incorrectly. As they exist, we should treat them accordingly.  We need to have limitation for us to avoid their bad outcomes. Use them in the right way.
